The mountains turn to reds and golds, and the weather starts to cool down, making fall  one of the most beautiful times of the year.  Every September locals and visitors alike enjoy the concerts at the John C. Campbell Folk School and plays performed by the Licklog Players at the Peacock Playhouse, or a beautiful evening ride on Lake Chatuge.

September is the annual Tractor Parade , 4-H event & celebrate agriculture history along with the Clay County Chamber of Commerce Business Expo on the Square in downtown Hayesville.  The Bussiness Expo is an opportunity to see what our local businesses have to offer.

The first full week end in October brings the annual John C. Campbell Folkschool Fall Festival.  This is a Saturday-Sunday event with over 190 craftspeople selling their wares along with food, live music, and entertainment.  Check out the John C Campbell Folk School website at www.folkschool.org for more information on events and classes through out the year.

The end of October is the annual Punkin Chunkin Festival sponsored by the Clay County Chamber of Commerce.  This is a 3 day fun-filled event with over 50 craftors, food, live music and entertainment, chilli cook-off, anything punkin bake-off and of course chunkin those punkins.  The Punkin Chunkin is a sanctioned event in which teams build a machine, similar to a trebuchet or catapult.  The winning team is the one that can launch their pumpkin the longest distance.
